ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the epidemic status and spatial and temporal cluster distribution of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) in Gansu Province, and to provide evidence for making precise prevention and control measures and epidemic surveillance. Methods:The data of VL cases in Gansu Province reported in the China Disease Prevention and Control Information System Infectious Disease Reporting Information Management System from 2015 to 2021 were collected, descriptive epidemiology analysis was performed (three distribution of the disease). SaTScan v9.6 and ArcMap 10.7 were used for spatio-temporal cluster analysis. Results:A total of 368 VL cases were reported from 2015 to 2021, 89.13% (328/368) were concentrated in Longnan City and Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. The number of VL cases increased year by year from 2015 to 2017, reaching a peak in 2017 (79 cases, accounting for 21.47%), and had decreased year by year since 2018. There were cases every month throughout the year, and the peak was in April in spring (38 cases). The ratio of male to female patients was 1.3 ∶ 1.0 (208/160). Scattered children aged less than 5 years old were more common (41.30%, 152/368). The spatio-temporal cluster analysis showed that both the spatial and temporal aggregation zones of VL in Tanchang County and Chengxian County were of statistical significance ( P < 0.05). Conclusion:The incidence of VL in Gansu Province is showing a low epidemic trend, having spatio-temporal aggregation, and precise monitoring and prevention and control should be strengthened in epidemic areas with different prevalence levels.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the spatio-temporal distribution characteristics of pulmonary tuberculosis in Ningbo City from 2015 to 2020, so as to provide insights into tuberculosis control.@*Methods@#The data of pulmonary tuberculosis cases in Ningbo City from 2015 to 2020 were collected from Tuberculosis Management Information System of China Disease Control and Prevention Information System, and were linked with the geographic information database of Ningbo Planning Design and Research Institute. The software SaTScan version 10.3 was employed for monthly spatio-temporal scanning and cluster analysis of reported pulmonary tuberculosis cases, populations, longitude and latitude in 153 townships of Ningbo City from 2015 to 2020. @*Results@#There were one class Ⅰ cluster and two class Ⅱ clusters of pulmonary tuberculosis cases in Ningbo City from 2015 to 2020, and the class Ⅰ cluster was centered in Song'ao Township and covered 37 townships, with aggregation time from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2017, while class Ⅱ clusters were covered 38 tounships which were centered in Sanqishi Township of Yuyao County, and one township in Hangzhou Bay New Town. The aggregation time was from January to June in 2015 and 2016, from March to August between 2017 and 2019 and between May and October, 2020. The overall reported incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis appeared a tendency towards a decline in each township of Ningbo City from 2015 to 2020; however, the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis was more than 80 per 100 thousand in Fuming Township of Yinzhou District and Juexi Township of Xiangshan County in 2020.@*Conclusions@#There were significant spatio-temporal clustering characteristics of pulmonary tuberculosis incidence at a township level in Ningbo City from 2015 to 2020, and the clusters were mainly concentrated in the central and eastern Ningbo City. The reported incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis is high in Fuming Township of Yinzhou District and Juexi Township of Xiangshan County, where targeted regional tuberculosis control strategies should be implemented.

ABSTRACT

Objective:Using a spatio-temporal clustering analysis of varicella in Shanghai from 2006 to 2015 at a subdistrict level, we aim to provide decision support for formulating a reasonable varicella prevention strategy. Methods:Based on the data of varicella cases in Shanghai from 2006 to 2015, SaTScan was employed to detect and analyze the spatial pattern of varicella clusters. Moreover, field investigation was combined to infer and explain the risk factors of varicella clusters. Results:The spread of varicella in Shanghai from 2006 to 2015 had an obvious annual change and spatial differentiation at a subdistrict level. The findings of SaTScan showed that with a confidence level of 99.9%, there were totally 7 spatio-temporal clustering events in Shanghai from 2006 to 2015, in which 3 events were regional events and 4 were independent events. Independent events usually lasted for 2-4 years, while regional events in the "Jiading-Chongming district" and "Songjiang-Minhang district" areas had a longer duration and a larger impact. Conclusions:From 2006 to 2015, there is an obvious temporal and spatial clustering pattern of varicella in Shanghai. Majority of abnormal spatio-temporal clusters occur in rural areas rather than urban areas, which may be related to increasing floating population and migration of susceptible population caused by the implementation of large-scale construction projects.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To analyze the epidemic situation and characteristics of spatial autocorrelation and spatiotemporal regular of hand, foot and mouth disease( HFMD) in Yunnan Province during the period from 2014 to 2018,thus to provide theoretical basis for HFMD prevention and control. Methods Descriptive epidemiologic method was used to analyze the epidemic situation of HFMD,spatial autocorrela- tion was used to analyze the spatial cluster aggregation, and discrete Possion model in spatio-temporal in scan was used to detect HFMD's spatio-temporal clustering condition. Results The incidence of HFMD in Yunnan Province had been risen rapidly during the past 5 years. Cases mainly occurred among the group of male,0-4 years old group and scattered children. The predominant pathogen had changed,Other enterovir- us gradually replaced enterovirus 71( EV71) to be the predominant. HFMD cases and pathogen showed sig- nificant spatial clustering aggregation,HFMD cases hot spots mainly concentrated in the central and south- central part of Yunnan Province. The amount of EV71 cases hot spots increased gradually, and the hot spot areas augmented and extended to the central and south-central part of Yunnan Province. There was obvious spatial-temporal aggregation of HFMD,annual scan results detected 3 first-level cluster areas and 1 second -level cluster area. Clustering time was mainly concentrated in April to October of each year. Conclusions Distribution characteristics of HFMD among people in Yunnan Province did not change significantly during the period from 2014 to 2018,while the proportion of pathogenic spectrum changed significantly. The key areas of HFMD control and prevention were still in the central and central-south part of Yunnan Province, while the aggregation and break of HFMD in these areas from April to October should be concerned.
